CVS Coupon Policy: Update on In-Store BOGO Sales

We Use Coupons called CVS customer service and asked about the use of coupons with a Buy One Get One Free in-store sale in light of the recent policy change I posted about yesterday - Combining BOGO Coupons w/Cents Off Coupons - No Longer Permitted at CVS!  She was told the following:

  • You can NOT use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale, as in the past and
  • You CAN use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale -making both items free, like in the past.

If CVS would post a written coupon policy it would be so much easier to keep track of.  If you are ever in doubt about coupon usage at CVS you can call 800shopcvs and talk with a customer service rep.  It can take time for all CVS stores to start implementing this, but apparently e-mails were sent out by CVS to their stores on July 1.  (Thanks, SimplyCVS!)

Personally, I'm surprised by the change above. If anything, I would have thought the two bullets above would have been switched. Unfortunately, they have gotten pretty good about not putting items on a BOGO sale when BOGO coupons are available, so saying they accept this type of transaction makes them look a little better - without any real impact to them. Just my opinion though.

Please let me know though if you hear anything different from your local CVS store.
